RØDE Blimp Windshield and Shock Mount System for Shotgun Microphones

Professional Audio Clarity: RØDE Blimp Windshield System

The RØDE Blimp Windshield and Shock Mount System is a critical tool for any sound recordist or filmmaker working in the field. When recording outdoors, even a light breeze can create low-frequency turbulence that ruins an audio track. The Blimp acts as an acoustic shield, diffusing wind before it reaches the microphone capsule, while the internal suspension system prevents the “thumping” sounds caused by movement and handling. Engineered for durability without adding excessive weight to your rig, the Blimp allows you to maintain professional audio standards in any environment.

Advanced Rycote® Lyre® Suspension

Inside the Blimp’s protective cage lies an advanced suspension system featuring Rycote® Lyre® technology. Unlike traditional rubber-band mounts that can snap or lose elasticity over time, the Lyre® mounts are constructed from a single piece of hard-wearing thermoplastic. This design provides superior acoustic decoupling, effectively “floating” the microphone to absorb vibrations from boompoles or handheld use. The suspension is fully adjustable, allowing you to perfectly balance various lengths of shotgun microphones for optimal performance.

Seamless Integration and Handling

RØDE has refined every detail of the Blimp to streamline the professional workflow. The handle features a heavy-duty Mogami® cable that transitions inside the housing to a highly flexible thin cable, minimizing “cable-borne” noise that can travel into the microphone. The ergonomic handle is not only comfortable for handheld use but also features a standard 3/8″ thread at the base, making it compatible with any professional boompole. This ensures you can transition from close-up interviews to overhead cinematic capture in seconds.

Complete Field Recording Solution

The Blimp is more than just a cage; it is a comprehensive system. It comes standard with the DeadWombat artificial fur windshield, which provides an additional layer of protection for high-wind scenarios. Also included is a grooming brush to keep the fur in top condition for maximum diffusion. Whether you are a solo content creator or part of a professional film crew, the RØDE Blimp provides the peace of mind that your audio will be clean, clear, and production-ready, regardless of what the elements throw your way.
