Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone

Big Sound, Small Footprint: RØDE VideoMicro

The RØDE VideoMicro is the definitive choice for creators who need broadcast-quality audio without the bulk of a full-sized shotgun microphone. Measuring just 80mm in length, it is small enough to fit on the most compact mirrorless cameras or mobile gimbals without obstructing your view or unbalancing your rig. Despite its size, it utilizes a high-grade 0.5″ condenser capsule to deliver rich, natural sound that far surpasses the capabilities of built-in camera microphones.

Intelligent Directional Audio

By employing a cardioid polar pattern, the VideoMicro is specifically tuned to capture sound from the front while rejecting noise from the sides and rear. This makes it an exceptional tool for run-and-gun interviews, vlogging in busy environments, or capturing crisp dialogue in a studio setting. Whether you are filming a skincare review or a fast-paced travel vlog, the VideoMicro ensures your voice remains the primary focus of your audio track.

Rugged and Reliable Engineering

Built to withstand the rigors of active content creation, the VideoMicro features a durable, all-aluminum body finished in RØDE’s high-grade ceramic anti-glare black coating. One of its most practical features is the lack of a battery; the microphone runs entirely on “plug-in power” from your camera’s microphone jack. This means you never have to worry about charging or missing a shot because of a dead battery. Simply plug it in, and you are ready to record.

Advanced Stabilization and Wind Protection

The VideoMicro comes standard with the industry-leading Rycote Lyre shock mount. This suspension system is made from a single piece of hard-wearing thermoplastic, providing superior acoustic isolation from physical vibrations, cable noise, and handling thumps. For outdoor shooting, the kit also includes the WS9 synthetic fur windshield. This high-performance “dead cat” is designed to minimize wind noise in high-velocity environments, ensuring your audio remains clear and professional even when filming on location. Compact, tough, and incredibly easy to use, the RØDE VideoMicro is the ultimate audio upgrade for any modern gear bag.
